Week 3 assignment: roles of students
- With the changes in many aspects of education in China, the roles of students have acquired its variety.
- Tradition is still held in many schools - Traditionally students are passive receiver of the knowledge imparted from the teacher or books.
- Modern roles have come new fashion - the new roles include the center of learning (rather than teaching) process, the designer of their own learning plans under the guidance of the teacher, the problem-finder and -solver, the decision maker, etc
The emerging of the multi-roles of students indicates the new insight into education of Chinese people and goverment.

In the new learning circumstances, the traditional role students play in classroom as passive receiver can not meet the new criteria of education. Assisted by IT and other technology, students should have the competence to plan their own learning, to find problems and to solve the problems themselves. Accordingly, teachers' role will change into facilitator, coach consultant and motivator
Dear Jessica,
Yes, nowadays students play a more dynamic role in their studies, especially with IT, they acquire abundant information in class as well as out of class. Instead of being passive receivers, students participate more than before in their learning.
Yes, actually profound changes have taken place due to the introduction of various forms of instructional technology. Students are happy to see that they've transformed from passive recipients of knowledge crammed by teachers to the active participants in the class. They are now the centre of teaching & learning activities.
