My topic: What is E-Portfolio

What is E-Portfolio:

An electronic portfolio, also known as an e-portfolio, or digital portfolio, is a collection of electronic evidence (artifacts, including inputted text, electronic files such as Word and PDF files, images, multimedia, blog entries and Web links etc.) assembled and managed by a user, usually online.

Why can it be used as part of continuous assessment for students?

E-portfolios are both demonstrations of the user’s abilities and platforms for self-expression, and, if they are online, they can be maintained dynamically over time. Some ePortfolio applications permit varying degrees of audience access, so the same portfolio might be used for multiple purposes. An e-portfolio can be seen as a type of learning record that provides actual evidence of achievement. Learning records are closely related to the learning plan, an emerging tool that is being used to manage learning by individuals, teams, communities of interest and organizations.

Week 3 assignment: roles of students

  • With the changes in many aspects of education in China, the roles of students have acquired its variety.

  • Tradition is still held in many schools - Traditionally students are passive receiver of the knowledge imparted from the teacher or books.
  • Modern roles have come new fashion - the new roles include the center of learning (rather than teaching) process, the designer of their own learning plans under the guidance of the teacher, the problem-finder and -solver, the decision maker, etc The emerging of the multi-roles of students indicates the new insight into education of Chinese people and goverment.
